Home At Last

Howard Prep’s Independent Living Program provides a meaningful option for adults with developmental disabilities who are ready to take the next step toward greater self sufficiency. By matching participants with supportive host families or individual providers, we help create living arrangements that feel like home, not a facility. This program is designed for individuals who want to move beyond group living or family dependency and step into a lifestyle where they can make choices, build confidence, and take on responsibility within a safe, supportive environment. Independent living is not only about having your own space. It is about having a voice, gaining more control of your life, and growing into the person you are becoming.

The impact is meaningful for providers as well. Opening your home to one of our participants is a unique and rewarding way to make a lasting difference. Whether you serve as a host family or a roommate style provider, you have the opportunity to build real relationships, offer encouragement, and play an important role in someone’s journey toward independence. Many providers share that the experience brings purpose and fulfillment to their own lives.

With Howard Prep’s support, providers are never on their own. Our team helps make the right match, guides the process, and stays involved to ensure both the participant and the provider are supported and successful. If you have room in your home and heart, consider becoming a provider. You will not only be offering a place to live. You will be helping someone move toward a more empowered life.
